Exchange Types

Full Academic Year

Eligible UPM Facultad de Informática students shall be entitled to take their full fifth year as part of the exchange programme.
Characteristics:

• Similarity (not equivalence) between the credits students enrol for at the Facultad de Informática and the subjects they take at the receiving university.
• Transfer of 60 ECTS (receiving university) = 72 UPM = Full Fifth Year. After receiving and converting the grades to the UPM Facultad de Informática grading system, the International Office shall transfer the grades to the student's record.
• The grade in entered in the student's Facultad de Informática record is the mean of the grades attained at the receiving university.

Requirement: students have to pass the full year.

Double Degree (DD)

Eligible UPM Facultad de Informática students shall be entitled to take a double degree programme as part of the exchange programme.

Characteristics:

• Stay of over one academic year (12+6 / 12+12)
• Receiving university course offering = receiving university degree
• Facultad de Informática recognition of fifth year + FYP credits = UPM degree. Double degree recognition is composed of two separate parts. The first is equivalent to the recognition of the full fifth year. The second is equivalent to recognition of the FYP, always taking into account that students shall not be able to enrol for or have FYP credits transferred until they have earned ALL the degree course credits.

Final Year Project (FYP)

Eligible UPM Facultad de Informática students shall be entitled to take their final-year project through an exchange programme.

Characteristics:

• Project development at the receiving university:
        workload of 30 ECTS (depending on the receiving institution)
• Writing and defense of a report before an examination board
• Enrolment at the Facultad de Informática
  • After earning ALL the degree course credits
• Facultad de Informática recognition:
  • Written project (following Facultad de Informática FYP presentation guidelines in the original language) with a summary in Spanish (max. 4 pages).
  • Submission of two copies of the project to the Facultad de Informática International Office.

Individual Subjects (IS)

Characteristics:

• Prior acceptance by the Facultad de Informática International Relations Committee
• Equivalence of contents
• Prior enrolment in the subjects at the Facultad de Informática
• Any subject or subjects recognized separately shall not count towards full course recognition (if combined)

Receiving university acceptance is required for the recognition over 60 ECTS per year
