Official postgraduate informatics engineering progamme (to be phased out)

Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, now regulating the official higher education system, places all Spanish universities under the obligation to reform their educational offer, setting the year 2010 as the limit for higher education to comply with the commitments entered into by the Spanish Government in the Bologna Declaration. For this reason, the master's and doctoral degrees offered as part of the UPM Facultad de Informática's Official Postgraduate Programme in Informatics Engineering are now in the process of being phased out, as these courses were regulated by an earlier rule (Royal Decree 56/2005). Perforce, however, Fourth Additional Provisional, Item 1, of RD 1393 explicity states that “Official university degrees earned in compliance with programmes in place before this royal decree enters into force shall retain all of their academic and any professional effects”.

In other words, no new places shall be offered for the Official Postgraduate Programme in Informatics Engineering, but the degree earned by former or current students is and shall be valid for all academic and professional purposes. In point of fact, none of the earlier official undergraduate and postgraduate degrees offered by this Facultad de Informática since it was opened have been or shall be rendered invalid because they were abolished.
