D. Presentation guidelines
Advice on content:
- Your FYP should clearly separate your own work from what you have taken from other sources
- Order of presentation:
- Contents page
- Summary
- Introduction and objectives
- Development
- Results and conclusions
- References (publications used to research and develop your final-year project)
Format guidelines:
- DIN A4, printed on both sides.
- Times Roman 12 points or equivalent font. Use black ink for text.
- Top and bottom margins: 3.5 cm, left margin: 4 cm, and right margin: 2 cm (alternate left and right margins on even pages), odd pages on right-hand side.
- Printed area: 22.5 cm (approximately 40 lines) x 15 cm.
- Headers and footers should be outside the printed area.
- Headings and subheadings should be numbered using the chapter number followed by an Arabic numeral, e.g. 2.3.1. for a level 2 heading.
- Capitalize chapter headings.
- Centre page number at the bottom of the page. Chapter 1 should start on page 1.
- Number all the pages of any sections preceding Chapter 1 with a Roman numeral (lower case), centred at the bottom of the page.
- Order references alphabetically by the author's surname. List the year of publication, full title of the publication and full or abbreviated title of the journal (in accordance, in this case, with the rules of a commonly used database).
- Appendices (list on the contents page).
- Programs: attach electronic files to the inside cover.
- Voluminous supporting material should be separated from the text and attached to the inside cover, or presented in an additional folder or as a separate volume.
Submit the original of your final-year report to the Registrar's Office and three copies to the examination board. The original should be bound in sky blue and the copies in grey. The cover should conform to the specimen format attached in the instructions.
